Commissioners Appoint Director of Security

At their regular bi-monthly meeting, the Bucks County Commissioners today appointed Warrington’s Christopher M. Daley as its new security director.  He will assume his duties effective April 28.

Daley most recently served as the director of public safety and security at Delaware Valley College, where he supervised 17 security officers and an assistant director.  He held the position since 1994. In that capacity, the county’s new security director was charged with the public safety of over 1,000 resident and 700 commuter students.  He coordinated all safety issues, programs and training for the college, interacting daily with parents, students, staff and local authorities.

Among his accomplishments, Daley is proud of his role in implementing a campus-wide emergency notification system, one of the first institutions in the commonwealth to implement such a system.

“It is with pride and enthusiasm that I announce Mr. Daley’s appointment today,” Commissioner Chairman Jim Cawley stated.  “His credentials in the security field coupled with leadership and discipline inculcated by the Marine Corps make him an outstanding choice for Bucks County.”  Cawley points out that one of Daley’s critical duties is the safety and security of the Bucks County Courthouse, a challenge he says Daley is well prepared for.

Initially enlisted in the Marine Corps, Daley then became a commissioned officer and served his country for 22 years on active duty. His assignments ranged in location from Willow Grove Naval Air Station to Okinawa, Japan.  John Dougherty, Emergency Services division leader, echoed Cawley’s greeting. “Mr. Daley’s experience in the realm of security makes him an integral part of our team. I welcome him and offer him my support.”

“I am excited to accept this new challenge,” Daley noted, adding that he looks forward to working with county employees and the public who visit the courthouse daily.  An outdoorsman, Daley enjoys hunting, archery and travel.
