Bucks County Commissioners Appoint Solicitor
Long-Time Newtown Borough Mayor Glenn D. Hains, Esq. to Take Post Next Month
With nearly 35 years of experience practicing law, Glenn D. Hains, Esq., was deemed the best candidate for selection as the county’s solicitor during the April 16 commissioners’ meeting. He is familiar with county government as he currently serves as the Clerk of Courts’ solicitor and has done so for over a decade.
“The county is extremely fortunate that Mr. Hains has agreed to serve in the capacity of solicitor,” commented Commissioner Chairman Jim Cawley. “I offer him my warmest welcome and look forward to his counsel.”
Hains presently practices with Thomas F. Goldman & Associates, and also dedicates time as an adjunct instructor at Bucks County Community College and Strayer University as well as Holy Family University, where he teaches MBA students.
"I am uniquely qualified to be our county solicitor because I have had a wide range of experiences in Bucks County,” Mr. Hains explained. “I am very familiar with Bucks County, its citizens and its county government because I have lived here for almost 40 years and have spent that time actively involved in our county. I have spent more than 30 years practicing law in Bucks County, more than 20 years as an elected official, more than 15 years teaching at the Bucks County Community College, and almost 12 years as an assistant county solicitor.”
Hains was elected as Newtown Borough mayor in 1995. He also served on the New Hope-Solebury School Board, including two terms as president and three as treasurer, was a member of the Middle Bucks Vocational Technical High School executive council where he served as president and vice-president, and was appointed by Newtown Borough Council to serve on the Newtown Area Joint Planning Commission. Hains has been a member of the Newtown Historic Association for more than 20 years, and twice served as the director of the Lower Bucks County Chapter of the American Red Cross.
A graduate of Temple University School of Law, Hains is married to Barbara.
Hains will replace Guy Matthews as county solicitor effective May 3.
