Director of Operations Appointed by Bucks County Commissioners

Today the Bucks County Commissioners filled a recently re-titled position with an incumbent who brings nearly four decades of management experience to the table.  Public Works’ Gerald Anderson will serve as county director of operations, and report directly to Chief Operating Officer (COO) David Sanko.

Currently the Public Works special projects manager, Anderson will begin his new duties effective September 27.

“Gerry’s vast experience in facility management, plant maintenance, systems analysis and project management makes him the perfect candidate,” noted Commissioner Chairman Jim Cawley.

In 2005, Anderson retired from Tyco International after 37 years of progressively responsible appointments. No stranger to public service, Anderson served as a Warrington Township supervisor for 16 years, 13 of which were served as chairman. In December of 2006 he heard the call of public service once again, and began his tenure with Bucks County.  Since his arrival, he has shepherded two critical public works projects, the new justice center and the new, soon-to-open 911 facility in Ivyland, liaising with local governments, construction companies, architects and engineers.  He also saw through to completion the new burn building used for training county firefighters at the Public Safety Training Center.

In his new position, Anderson will oversee the General Services Division, comprised of Public Works, and Parks & Recreation. Additionally, he will assist the COO in daily operations, and act as the primary liaison between the county and its advisory boards and affiliated authorities.

“Gerry brings with him an impressive breadth of experience, and I look forward to his assistance with our many important projects in the coming months,” Sanko stated.

The new director of operations will earn an annual salary of $85,000.
