Board of Elections Calls for Poll Workers
During April’s Primary Election, the Bucks County Board of Elections worked with over 1,800 election officials to staff the county’s 300-plus polling places. With this year’s turnout expected to be high for the General Election, the department is calling for registered voters to become a part of the process by applying for a poll worker position.
Available positions are Judge of Elections, Majority Inspector, Minority Inspector, Clerk and Machine Inspector. Duties include opening and closing the polls, setting up voting equipment, signing in voters, processing absentee ballots and recording vote totals. In order to be eligible to be an election official, you must be a registered voter, be able to read, write and speak English, and attend a training class on Thursday, October 30 from 10 a.m. to noon. Training will take place at the James Lorah House in Doylestown.
The hours for officials on Election Day, November 4 are from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Those serving as Judges of Elections are compensated $120 plus mileage; other positions earn $95 per day plus mileage.
Anyone interested should apply online, on the Election Officials page, or contact the Board of Elections at 215-348-6154 to find out more about position availability.
