Bucks County Prison Oversight Board Conducts Annual Organization Meeting
Former Commissioner Sandra A. Miller Unanimously Re-elected Chair

The Bucks County Prison Oversight Board held its first monthly meeting of 2009 this afternoon in the courthouse Lawyer’s Lounge. In keeping with tradition, the board elected its annual slate of officers. In a unanimous vote, former commissioner and board community member Sandra A. Miller was tapped to chair the board for the fourth consecutive year. County Sheriff Edward “Duke” Donnelly will serve as vice chairman and county Controller Raymond F. McHugh, Esq. will continue as secretary.

In nominating the officers, Commissioner Chairman Charles H. Martin complimented Miller, Donnelly and McHugh for their service, adding, “They did a fine job in 2008.”

Joining the board for the first time was new county President Judge Susan Devlin Scott. She assumes the spot previously held by Judge David W. Heckler. In addition, Walter C. Stevens received unanimous approval to continue in his role as one of the board’s three community members.

The board also consists of Commissioner Martin, Commissioner James F. Cawley, Esq., Commissioner Diane M. Ellis-Marseglia, LCSW, county Chief Probation Officer Sean Ryan, Public Defender Stephen H. Shantz, and community member Karen Dopson. The meetings also include a monthly report on Corrections business from county Director of Corrections Harris Gubernick.
