RSVP Food Drive Collects 2,500 Pounds of Items For Bucks County Opportunity Council Pantries
Between August 1 and September 11, the Bucks County Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) joined forces with multiple Bucks County Senior Community Centers, the Board of Bucks County Commissioners and private businesses to collect more than one ton (2,500 pounds) of non-perishable food items. These collected items subsequently were directed to 29 food pantries around Bucks County in conjunction with the Bucks County Opportunity Council.
“We’d like to thank all of the individuals and organizations taking part in this drive,” Commissioner Chairman Charles H. Martin stated. “The Opportunity Council is a valued partner in our community-service mission.”
“The Bucks County Area Agency on Aging provides over 20 services to the older persons of Bucks County, including nutrition programs,” noted county Area Agency on Aging Director Brian M. Duke. “Through our services and outreach we become aware of older persons in need of food.
