Sixth Annual “Old Fashioned Christmas” Celebration Slated for Tinicum Park December 5

The Bucks County Commissioners, in conjunction with the county Department of Parks and Recreation, will host the 6th Annual Tinicum Park Old Fashioned Christmas celebration on Saturday, December 5 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Tinicum Park Barn. The barn is located on River Road (Route 32) in Erwinna, Pennsylvania.

This popular holiday program is a step back in time to a slower-paced age of carriage rides and home-spun community holiday festivities. The event will feature a one-mile long horse-drawn antique carriage ride through the park every half hour beginning at 11 a.m. (reservations are required).  “Father Christmas” will arrive by carriage for the day at 10:45 a.m. Families also can create a family tradition by having their picture taken with Father Christmas by photographer Hank Wein.

The work of expert crafters and festive holiday displays will be available in the barn, showcasing an array of unique items for holiday gift giving. There also will be musical entertainment by John Boshinski on acoustic guitar with a sing along for all ages, Miss Amy with a high energy music performance for kids, the Palisades High School Girl Singers performing holiday songs, the ARRK Foundation with wild animals to show and tell, a nature walk of the Delaware Canal, free tours of the Erwin-Stover House, and delicious holiday refreshments offered by the Upper Tinicum Lutheran Church.

Carriage rides are by reservation only and seating is limited.  The cost is $12 for adults /$8 for children.  Children 14 years and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Reservations may only be made by those age 16 years and older. The deadline for reservations for the carriage rides is 4 p.m., November 30.  Rides will begin at 11 a.m. and depart every half hour until 3:30 p.m.  For further information and reservations please contact Jill Unger at (215) 489-5132.  This program is sponsored by the Bucks County Department of Parks and Recreation and Walter’s Nursery.
