Helping Foster Care Children Have a Happy Holiday
Bucks County Employees Help Fill Children’s Wish Lists
Bucks County employees continued a five-year tradition of making wishes comes true for children in the Bucks County Foster Care System.
Each December, Foster Care social workers decorate a lighted tree in the Bucks County Courthouse with tags listing children’s wishes. The tags vary from the toddlers who want a Barbie to teenagers who want a skateboard. Employees take the tag, purchase gifts in the child’s wish list, label it with the tag, and drop it off at the Public Information office.
Bucks County Commissioners Jim Cawley and Charley Martin posed with just a few of the gifts that filled the office. “Our employees continue to astonish us with their generosity to this holiday program,” said Commissioner Martin, “We hope all of the children in foster care throughout Bucks County have a happy holiday.”
A box truck was filled with bags and boxes - and even a bike – to be sent to the Children and Youth offices in time for Christmas delivery.
