Bucks Issues “Code Blue” Cold Weather Declaration for Nights of January 2-4, 2010
Based on information received from the National Weather Service, Bucks County today is issuing a “Code Blue” declaration. The determination was made jointly by the Emergency Management Agency (EMA) and the Health Department.
The 72-hour period begins on Saturday night, Jan. 2, 2010, when temperatures are expected to dip to the 20 degrees Fahrenheit range. Similarly frigid conditions are anticipated through Monday night, Jan. 4. County Emergency Management Director John Dougherty has notified local public safety officials of the Code Blue declaration. He urges residents to be aware of the bitter upcoming weather conditions.
The EMA has made notification to the “on-call” church which will coordinate transportation, temporary shelter, and food, among other necessities. For shelter information, please call the homeless hotline at 877-260-2936.
