County Office of Community & Business Development to Offer Workshops
The Feb. 25 Bucks County Office of Community and Business Development event that was postponed due to inclement weather has been rescheduled for 8:30 a.m.-noon on Friday, March 5 at the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce office (252 W. Swamp Rd., Suite 23, Doylestown). This free workshop, part of the Chamber’s Making Buck$ In and Out of Bucks series, will focus on government purchasing and procurement methods to help our business community enter and profit in the current marketplace. Scheduled members of the expert panel will include:
- Maureen Wilson McIlvaine, CPPO, CPPB, director of the Bucks County Purchasing Department;
- Paula K. Watts, a recognized expert on the procurement and management of federal contracting. Ms. Watts, who currently works for the U.S. Small Business Administration, managed more than $20 million of contracts with her previous company;
- Faye M. Fitz, government marketing specialist in the Procurement Technical Assistance Program with the Temple University Small Business Development Center.
In addition, on Tuesday, March 9, the county will offer an installment of the Lower Bucks County Chamber of Commerce (LBCCC) Roadmap to Recovery series. This free workshop, focusing on “Loan Programs to Assist Your Business with the Roadmap to Recovery,” will be conducted from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the LBCCC offices in Fairless Hills (409 Hood Blvd.).
Regardless if you are an entrepreneur starting a business or the owner of a company that needs working capital or expansion funding, come attend the workshop to learn about today’s financing options for Bucks County businesses. Featured topics and speakers will include:
- SBA Loan Programs: Mr. Louis J. Lombardi, SVP, Senior Lender, Fulton Bank Commercial Banking Group\
- County Loan Programs: Sonia Smith, Business Development Administrator, County of Bucks
- County Workforce Development Programs: John Errigo, Planning & Business Development Manager, Bucks County Workforce Investment Board
- Microloan Programs: Brenda Williams, Loan Officer, Economic Opportunities Fund, Women’s Opportunities Resource Center
