Bucks County to Host 28th Annual Senior Games and Prime Time Health Expo: June 1 through June 11
The Board of Bucks County Commissioners, in conjunction with the Bucks County Area Agency on Aging (AAA), the Bucks County Department of Parks and Recreation, the Pennsylvania Department of Aging, and Independence Blue Cross and Keystone Health Plan East, are pleased to announce that the 28th annual Bucks County Senior Games and Prime Time Health Expo will be held from Tuesday, June 1, 2010 through Friday, June 11, 2010.
Annually, this event brings together more than 400 active Bucks County residents age 50 and above for camaraderie, competition and the opportunity to become better informed consumers of health- related services. The Bucks County Senior Games offer more than 20 events, including golf, tennis, bowling, swimming, track and field, table tennis, pinochle, duplicate bridge, billiards, horseshoes, bocce and much more. Activities will be held at various locations throughout the county. Participants may register in as many events as desired providing there are no time conflicts. All participants in the games will receive a commemorative pin and T-shirt. The registration fee is $10 per person, due by May 3, 2010. There is a late fee of $5 for all registrations received after May 3, 2010. A bonus this year will allow all previous participants will receive a 50% discount on the registration fee if they bring a NEW participant to the games.
A special feature of the games is the annual Prime Time Senior Health Expo, which will be held Thursday, June 3, 2010, from 9:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Delaware Valley College in Doylestown Township. Individuals do not need to participate in the games to attend the health expo. More than 70 vendors will provide basic health screenings, as well as a variety of information booths designed to help consumers become aware of the many health-related programs, services and providers located in our surrounding communities. In addition to bingo there will be giveaways, door prizes, refreshments and more. New to the expo this year is the talent show. Are you an amateur singer, magician, dancer or comedian? Do you have any other type of performing talent? Sign up to perform in the first annual Bucks County Idol Talent Show from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
