County Board of Elections Appoints C. Theodore Fritsch, Jr. Chairman, Relocates Three Voting Districts

During its April 23 meeting in the county courthouse, the Bucks County Board of Elections conducted a reorganization and a slate of business in preparation for the May 18, 2010 General Primary. As a result of Commissioner James F. Cawley’s resignation from the board in order to pursue the lieutenant governorship of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Commissioners Charles H. Martin and Diane M. Ellis-Marseglia appointed the Hon. C. Theodore Fritsch, Jr. chairman. Commissioner Ellis-Marseglia also expressed her interest in the role, but agreed to go along with Judge Fritsch’s appointment.

During the meeting, the board agreed to move the Bristol Borough North 1 and Bristol Borough North 2 voting districts from Warren Snyder-John Girotti Elementary School (420 Buckley St.) to the Ancient Order of Hibernians at 614 Corson St. The Bristol Borough North 1 and North 2 relocations were made with the contingency that the Ancient Order of Hibernians not serve any alcohol during polling hours. The club subsequently agreed to comply with that request for the purposes of the General Primary. The Warren Snyder-John Girotti Elementary School is closed and undergoing asbestos abatement in preparation for the demolition of the school.

The board also approved the relocation of the Newtown Township #8 voting district from the Newtown Fire Association (55 Municipal Dr.) to the Newtown Township Administration Building (100 Municipal Dr.). This move will provide voters with a new, spacious building environment and will not interfere with emergency services provided by the township.
