Tile Works Hosts Tile Festival

A show and sale of both historic and contemporary tiles will be held at Bucks County’s Moravian Pottery and Tile Works on Saturday, May 15 from 10-5 p.m. and on Sunday, May 16 from 10-4 p.m., rain or shine.

For its twelfth annual offering, the show will have more than 40 booths featuring quality tile artists, tile makers, and dealers of historic tiles from New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, California, South Carolina, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Canada.  As at previous shows, contemporary creations and rare historic handcrafted tiles will be displayed and available for sale during the weekend event.

Free self-guided tours of the Tile Works will be offered, and its staff of ceramists will be demonstrating various techniques of production, including design pressing, glazing and mosaic cutting.  Attendees are also encouraged to stop by the Tile Works membership table and enroll as either new or renewing members and receive the 2010 members’ special edition tile.

A concession will be offering a selection of foods and refreshments.  General admission is a suggested donation of $6 for adults.  Those 17 and younger are admitted free.  All proceeds will benefit the Tile Works’ museum educational programs.  Parking is free.  No dogs, please.

The Moravian Pottery and Tile Works, located on Swamp Road (Route 313), Doylestown, is a National Historic Landmark administered by the Bucks County Department of Parks and Recreation, Division of Historic Properties.  For additional festival information, call 215-345-6722 or email mptw@co.bucks.pa.us.
