Bucks County Health Department Warns Restaurants of Reports of Inspector Impersonations
Bucks County Health Department Director David Damsker, MD, MPH is warning restaurant owners and operators that the department has received multiple reports in recent days that an individual is posing over the phone as a food facility inspector.
“The concern is that these folks are trying to solicit personal information about the restaurant owners, which could potentially lead to criminal activity such as identity theft,” Damsker warned. He advises that the county’s inspectors carry badges and photo identification when conducting inspections, and suggests that restaurants should report suspicious activity by calling the health department at 215-345-3318.
Damsker and staff are working with local law enforcement officials as well as the PA Department of Agriculture on the matter.
