Health Department to Conduct Mosquito Spraying August 17 in Bristol and Falls Townships
The Bucks County Department of Health, in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), has scheduled an adult mosquito spray treatment for Tuesday, August 17, 2010 in portions of Bristol and Falls townships.
According to Health Department officials, the treatment will address elevated counts of mosquitoes known to transmit or amplify West Nile Virus. The area to be sprayed in the West Bristol portion of Bristol Township where high numbers of mosquitoes testing positive for West Nile Virus have been detected includes: Neshaminy Rd.; Charles Ave.; Belmont Ave.; Clover Ave.; Hillcrest Ave.; Walnut Ave.; and a section of Neshaminy Rd. The spraying will commence at dusk, weather permitting.
The area to be treated in Falls Township includes Auburn Rd., Beaumont Rd., Chatham Rd., and Dunedin Rd. in Fairless Hills.
The insecticide for the spray will be Biomist 3+15, which will be applied from a sprayer mounted on a green, Chevrolet pick-up truck with Bucks County Department of Health decals.
