The Bucks County Department of Health, in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), has scheduled an adult mosquito spray treatment for Wednesday, August 31, 2010 in portions of Bensalem Township.

According to Health Department officials, the treatment will address elevated counts of mosquitoes known to transmit or amplify West Nile Virus. The area to be sprayed in Bensalem includes Yezzi Park, Corry, Clover and Cornwells avenues; Chandler, Village Green, Logan, Society Hill and Betsy Ross drives; as well as Rittenhouse Square. The spraying will commence at dusk, weather permitting.

The insecticide for the spray will be Biomist 3+15, which will be applied from a sprayer mounted on a green, Chevrolet pick-up truck bearing the Bucks County Department of Health logo on the sides.
