Helping Foster Care Children Enjoy a Happy Holiday
Bucks County Employees Fill Children’s Wish Lists
This month, Bucks County employees continued a six-year tradition of making wishes comes true for children in the Bucks County Foster Care System.
Foster Care social workers decorate a lighted tree in the Bucks County Courthouse second-floor lobby with tags listing children’s wishes. The tags vary from the toddlers who want a Barbie to teenagers who wish for a baseball mitt or a gift card. Employees take the tag, purchase gifts on the child’s wish list, label it with the tag, and drop it off at the Commissioners’ Public Information office.
On behalf of Bucks County Commissioners Charley Martin, Jim Cawley and Diane Marseglia, county Chief Operating Officer Brian Hessenthaler helped to load several pallets with colorfully
wrapped gifts. “Year after year, despite economic conditions, our employees have come through in a big way again to help provide a merry Christmas for the children in our care,” noted Chairman Martin, “This will help make the holidays much happier for many foster children.”
The presents were delivered to the Children and Youth offices this week. Social workers will play the role of Santa Claus by distributing them to the foster families in time for Christmas morning. For more information about foster care in Bucks County, please visit Children and Youth.
