Spreading Holiday Joy to Children in Foster Care
Bucks County Employees Fill Children’s Wish Lists
This month, Bucks County employees continued a seven-year tradition of making wishes comes true for children in the Bucks County Foster Care System.
Foster Care social workers decorated a lighted tree in the Bucks County Courthouse second-floor lobby with tags listing the wishes of children varying from toddlers to teenagers. Employees who were willing to participate took a tag off the tree, purchased gifts on the child’s wish list, labeled it with the tag, and dropped it off at the Commissioners’ Public Information office. Ultimately, every card on the tree found a willing sponsor.
Hundreds of colorfully wrapped presents, including Barbie dolls, educational toys, crafts, MP3 players and gift cards, were transported to the Children and Youth Social Services Agency this morning. Social workers will play the role of Santa Claus by distributing the gifts to foster families in time for Christmas morning.
“On behalf of the Commissioners, I am thrilled by the generosity of our county workforce this holiday season,” Commissioner Martin noted. “This annual gift-giving program affords the opportunity for us to support the youth we serve on a daily basis.”
