Helping Foster Care Children Enjoy A Happy Holiday

December 16, 2014

Bucks County Employees Fill Children’s Wish Lists

This month, Bucks County employees continued an annual tradition of making wishes comes true for children in the Bucks County Foster Care System.

Social workers from the Children and Youth Social Services Agency decorated a lighted tree in the Bucks County Courthouse lobby with tags listing the wishes of children varying from toddlers to teenagers.  Employees who were willing to participate took a tag off the tree, purchased gifts on the child’s wish list and delivered them to the Commissioners’ Office of Public Information.  Ultimately, every card on the tree found a sponsor.

Satellite offices across the county also participated in the gift program, along with schools, churches, businesses and other non-profit organizations donating gifts to the agency this holiday season.  In total, 1,100 children receiving social services from Children and Youth will benefit from this outpouring of generosity.

On Tuesday, Dec. 16, hundreds of colorfully wrapped presents, including educational toys, crafts, games and gift cards, were transported to the Children and Youth Social Services Agency.  Social workers will play the role of Santa Claus by distributing the gifts to foster families in time for Christmas morning.
