County Health Department to Spray Adult Mosquitoes August 26 in West Rockhill Twp. and Sellersville Borough

August 24, 2015

The Bucks County Department of Health in association with the Pennsylvania Dept. of Environmental Protection (DEP) will conduct an adult mosquito spray on Wednesday, August 26, weather permitting, in West Rockhill Township and Sellersville Borough.  The spray will commence at dusk, and will be limited to the specific areas of B. Earl Druckenmiller Park, Lenape Park, Sellersville Waste Water Treatment Plant, and the grove area behind the Sellersville Fire Company. The rain date for the event will be Thursday, August 27.

County technicians will be driving a dark green Ford Ranger spray truck with the county logo and BU number 0107 on the side.  There will also be a lead truck, a blue Ford Ranger pickup with similar identification.  The chemical to be used will be Duet applied at the rate of one (1) ounce per acre. According to the Pennsylvania DEP, the product is designed to provide quick, effective control of adult mosquito populations. The application material has a very low toxicity profile to mammals and will have negligible impact to non-target insects and the environment.
