Bucks County Receives National Association of County Recorders, Election Officials and Clerks (NACRC) Best Practices Award

October 21, 2015

A few weeks ago, at the Annual Conference of the National Association of County Recorders, Election Officials and Clerks (NACRC), the Bucks County Recorder of Deeds office was honored by receiving one of two Best Practices Awards, the other going to the Virginia Office of Elections Fairfax County, Virginia. The NACRC Best Practices Award is a unique opportunity for NACRC members to receive special recognition in honor of their unique achievements and Best Practices in their respective fields.

The Recorder of Deeds was chosen for their creation and continuation of their Veterans’ Programs. The Veterans Discount ID Card was created in 2011 and now boasts over 1300 businesses participating and over 10,000 Veterans receiving discounts. The program continues to grow as events are held several times a month at different locations throughout the county.

Honor Flight Bucks County was created as a spin-off of Honor Flight Philadelphia and is a way to increase awareness and recognition for veterans from World War II and the Korean War. Veterans receive a trip to Arlington National Cemetery and the War Memorials dedicated to their service, then come home to a celebration, a Welcome Home from the community at large. The first Honor Flight had roughly 160 participants; the second, which took place October 5, was over 200 participants.

NACRC is a national association of elected and appointed county administrative officials. There are currently over 500 members from counties, parishes and town officials and their staffs. The County of Bucks joins NACRC in congratulating Recorder of Deeds Joseph Szafran and his staff for the distinguished honor and thank them for their dedication and ingenuity in advancing professional services and best practices in the community.
