Bucks County Issues “Code Blue” Weather Declaration for Thursday, February 9 until Saturday, February 11

February 9, 2017

The National Weather Service is forecasting extreme cold winter conditions into this weekend. Given that prediction, the Bucks County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) joins the County Health Department to issue a “Code Blue” declaration. The Code Blue declaration will cover the period of 79 p.m. on Thursday, February 9 through 7 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2017.

The EMA has notified the February, 2017 on-call churches, Calvary Baptist Church in Bristol, Doylestown Presbyterian Church - Andrews Hall and Quakertown Masonic Lodge, who plan to activate their emergency shelters. The on-call church volunteers will coordinate transportation, temporary shelter, food and other necessities.

In addition, County Emergency Management Director Scott Forster and Health Director Dr. David Damsker have notified local public safety officials of the Code Blue declaration. They advise all residents to be aware of another period of severe weather conditions. County residents are urged to check on their elderly neighbors during this period of frigid weather. Caution also should be taken with pets during extremely cold temperatures.
