Bucks County Commissioners Re-Open County Bridge No. 352 (Hill Rd. In East Rockhill Township)

The re-opening of Bridge #352, after rehabilitation work was completed.On Monday, November 20, 2017, Commissioners Charles H. Martin, Robert G. Loughery and Diane M. Ellis-Marseglia, LCSW directed the General Services division to re-open County Bridge No. 352 in East Rockhill Township. The bridge, a single span reinforced concrete t-beam structure with a macadam riding surface, carries Hill Rd. over Three Mile Run. It was closed for repairs on September 21, 2017. PennDOT, emergency officials and first response companies have been notified of the re-opening.

“This is the second bridge project that was funded by Bucks County’s $5 Vehicle Registration Fee, and that program will continue to allow us to rehabilitate the bridges our General Services division maintains,” Chairman Martin said.

The comprehensive rehabilitation of the bridge, which is 38-feet long and 19 feet, two inches from curb to curb, consisted of the installation of approach guiderails at the four corners of the bridge; concrete repairs to the beams and underside of the deck; concrete repairs to the abutments and wings; mill and overlay pavement on the bridge and along the approaches to the ends of the new guiderail; installation of concrete epoxy coating to parapet walls and the outside faces of exterior beams; and installation of a county bridge plaque commemorating the project.

A side view of Bridge #352, after rehabilitation work was completed.Eastern Highway Specialists of Wilmington, DE completed the construction, while engineering and design was done by WBCM of King of Prussia, PA. The construction cost, prior to final concrete repairs, was $263,696.

Bridge No. 352 is one of 114 owned and maintained by the County of Bucks and its General Services division.
